Canada Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) — Your Shortcut to PR When CRS Scores Fall Short

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a popular immigration pathway that allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate skilled individuals based on their labor market needs.

Provincial Nominee Program?

What the PNP Does That Express Entry Can't

Express Entry is a points competition. If thousands of applicants have higher CRS scores than you, you simply wait sometimes for years. The Provincial Nominee Program breaks that deadlock.

When a Canadian province nominates you, IRCC adds 600 CRS points to your score. That single addition is so significant that it effectively guarantees your next Express Entry Invitation to Apply. For applicants scoring between 350 and 450 in the federal pool, PNP is often the fastest realistic route to Canadian permanent residency.

Prudont Immigrations analyses your profile against dozens of active provincial streams to identify where you have the strongest chance of nomination before you invest time or money.

Is PNP Right for You?

PNP is a powerful option for candidates looking to secure permanent residency with additional support from a province. It significantly improves your chances, especially if your CRS score is lower.

How the PNP Works

Canada's PNP operates on two tracks:

The PNP application process may vary depending on the province and stream, but generally follows a structured approach.

Track 1: Enhanced PNP (Linked to Express Entry)

The province selects a candidate from the active Express Entry pool and issues a Notification of Interest (NOI). The candidate then applies to the province for a nomination. If nominated, IRCC adds 600 points to their CRS score and they receive an ITA in the next draw.

This track is faster — the federal application is processed under the 6-month Express Entry target.

Track 2: Base PNP (Paper-Based, Non-Express Entry)

The candidate applies directly to the province without being in the Express Entry pool. If nominated, they apply for federal PR through a slower paper-based process (12–18 months).

This track is useful for candidates who don’t meet Express Entry eligibility but meet provincial requirements.
